The NS® Administration module has multilevel staff logins with complete audit trails allowing Nutrisolve Ltd to train staff in-house and sign off each ingredient after it is mapped. This system will also track staffs performance and allows certain staff members to work remotely as required with full accuracy and performance measures in place. As each analyst completes an ingredient it is submitted it to a senior team member who then checks it, before releasing it to the client for recipe submission. CONCLUSION

The Inevitable

Regardless of the inevitable increase in pressure that will be applied to food producers as a whole, the consumer will continue to demand more information about what they eat. Calories are the by-product of the ingredients, and the quantity of them we consume. It is likely that the government will make exemptions for the smaller food producers based on the costs involved for them to comply. The safety of food is vital to all consumers and food businesses. Consumers must have confidence that the food they buy and eat will be what they expect, will do them no harm, and that the calories stated are what they are actually consuming.

Fatal Reactions

Restaurants and takeaways and any other business that produces and sells foods across Europe are required by law to tell customers if their food contains ingredients known to trigger allergies. Thousands of people need treatment in hospital for severe allergic reactions each year in the UK. It is estimated that as many as 200 to 250 people die in the UK each year from food-allergic reactions. Experts say the majority of these deaths and visits to the hospital are avoidable, and some are a result of people being given incorrect information about ingredients. Under current legislation (EU FIC Food Information for Consumers Regulation), customers must be told if their food contains any of the 14 allergens

The food industry has a higher turnover of staff than any other in the UK. Keeping them up to date is one thing, keeping track of the ingredients a supplier may substitute or a manufacturer may change is another.

The Reality

To date, only a small fraction of food producers can afford to keep track of the nutritional values of the products they produce in this ever-changing industry, The majority need the flexibility to innovate and exploit the many permutations of the dishes they serve and the ingredients they use.
